We Love Grand County!
As a locally owned business we depend on the community to support us. We feel it is important to return that support through the support of local causes and charities. We do this in two ways—through events we personally sponsor and through partnerships with groups in our community.
Some of the events we look forward to every year are the Dog Days of Summer event where we help raise awareness and funds for the Grand County Pet Pals, our Children’s Miracle Network Icon and Bucket sale to support our local CMN hospitals, our annual flower basket sale to support the Granby Elementary PTA and our infamous Ladies Night (always the second Thursday night in November) where each year we choose a local group to work the door and collect all the proceeds from the door. Since 2006 we have partnered with the Granby Public Library Summer Reading program to provide over $500 in gift certificates every year to children who go above and beyond completing the reading program. We have also supported various group's fundraisers this year including our Highschool Athletics program through the Grid Iron Club, Granby Parks and Rec Department's Granby Gut Buster, Habitat for Humanity's Habitat Hobble, and many other events.
Please read more about the events and sponsorship that are such an important element of Ace Hardware.

Mountain Parks Electric
In the 1940s, North Park residents– north of Kremmling and along Highway 40 – grew tired of living without the benefits of electricity. Convinced there was no profitability in providing rural people with electricity, investor-owned power companies (IOUs) were unwilling to invest the capital needed to extend power lines into the rural United States. Undeterred by IOU rejection, Jackson County residents established North Park Rural Electric Association (NPREA), a consumer-owned electric cooperative, on October 16, 1946. With the help of the Rural Electrification Administration (REA)- a.k.a.Rural Utilities Service - NPREA obtained federal loans to construct power lines, bringing electricity to North Central Colorado. Area residents' lives were changed forever (see electricity: before and after).
NPREA’s first power lines were energized in 1950. Between 1953 and 1959,NPREA purchased several area power companies including Granby's Mountain Utilites Corporation and municipals in Grand Lake and Kremmling. When the headquarters moved from Walden to Granby (in 1953), NPREA changed its name to Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. (MPEI), reflecting its main service territory: North Park and Middle Park. At that time, MPEI employed an eleven-person line crew and an office staff of seven to service 3,860 meters. To help power the 21st century, MPEI - your Touchstone Energy® cooperative - is committed to providing large and small customers with state-of-the-art technology and personalized service at affordable rates. We've built a reputation of integrity, accountability, innovation and community commitment and join together with over 600 other national cooperatives under the Touchstone Energy® partnership to maintain high standards of service and cooperative principles.
